10–14 day Thailand tours
The most common length for a first trip — culture, north and a beach, with days that are not scheduled.
Ten to fourteen days is the length we recommend most often, and the one most first trips to Thailand should be. It fits Bangkok, the old capitals, the north and one coast without rushing, and it leaves room for days with nothing scheduled.
The difference between ten and fourteen days is mostly the north. At ten you get Chiang Mai and one day trip; at fourteen you can add Sukhothai, Chiang Rai or the Mae Hong Son loop, which is where the country stops feeling like a checklist. The beach section stays roughly the same length either way.
These itineraries all include at least three unscheduled half-days. That is deliberate: on a two-week trip, the days you remember are rarely the ones on the schedule.
Common questions
Four to six bases with three internal flights. More than that and you are moving too often.
The north. Thailand's beaches are excellent but similar; its northern culture is not replicated anywhere else.
Not for a first trip covering both regions. It is too long if you only want a beach holiday.

Every itinerary can be shortened or extended by a day or two — usually without changing the route.
