A Thailand honeymoon works best with three bases over eight to eleven days: a city, a coast and an island. The two mistakes we see most often are too many hotel changes and a beach-only trip, which gets boring by day five.
The value here is unusual. A private villa with a pool, a housekeeper and breakfast costs less in Thailand than a good hotel room in southern Europe, so the budget goes further on space and privacy than on brand names. We book villas we have inspected rather than suites we have read about.
What we include as standard rather than as an upsell: airport meets, a private table on the sand once, a couples' treatment, and a driver who stays with you. What we leave out: set dinners with other guests, 'romantic' packages that turn out to be a bottle of sparkling wine, and anything scheduled before 8am.
